2015 in Photographs
It’s the time of year for me to stop and reflect on all of the amazing moments and wonderful clients that 2015 has offered me. My first full year living in Providenciales has been full of many wonderful twists and turns and there have been so many photographs that haven’t yet made it onto this blog, so this is the perfect time to give them their moment of glory.
Since we moved to Turks and Caicos it feels as if I’ve been given a chance to start afresh in so many ways. To stop and question what it is that I really love and what moves me to create. Interestingly enough, one of my first real passions, yoga, has been creeping into my life in so many fabulous ways. It first ventured in with the opportunity to teach yoga once again after a 10 year hibernation. I have absolutely loved the challenge of this experience! The next place it showed up was the opportunity to photograph other people following their passion of yoga. I have loved taking the marketing photographs for Retreat Yoga & Wellness Studio as well as helping other individual yoga teachers create images to promote their businesses. I have discovered that photographing yoga poses on the sand is not as easy as it looks
My own pregnancy 5 years ago ignited my passion in photography and so this year being able to combine my love of fine art nude photography with pregnancy portraits has been an exciting and liberating experience. It feels like I’ve just scratched the tip of the ice burg with where I want to go with this in the coming years. Watch this space next year, it feels like my paints might just be coming out of hibernation!
Launching my new lifestyle blog, At Home With Malita, has been huge for me and a bit like coming ‘out of the closet’. I’m still finding my feet with it all and so excited with where I want to take it next year. If you haven’t yet had a chance to check it out, please head over to the website and join the conversation.
2015 has been a year of taking myself out of my comfort zone and experiencing some really big stretches. Photographing my first weddings have definitely been one of them! It’s been an honour witnessing two people making such a beautiful commitment to each other.
I hope that your celebrations tonight are magical, full of gratitude for what has been and filled with childish excitement for the wonders of 2016. Thank you for sharing the journey with me and I wish you a Happy New Year!
