Astrid | baby portrait photography | Hove, East Sussex
I had the absolute pleasure of meeting 9 day old Astrid Rae Reina last week on a freezing cold wintry day in Hove. I met her Daddy, James, at an onsite chair massage course that we were both on years ago. Through the wonderful powers of Facebook we’ve made a connection again and it was such a privilege for me to be invited into their home during the first few time warp days that a new baby brings with it.
On the day of the photo shoot tiny little Astrid decided that it was a day for a growth spurt and had both her lovely Mummy, Jenny and her Daddy on their toes trying to figure out what was wrong with her. It was so precious to watch and reminisce on my own experience of these first few days and the manual-less state that new parenthood offers. It was very endearing to watch James on the phone giving a detailed account of what Astrid was doing while Jenny remained in her blissful state of zen.
Apart from a few ever so slightly posed shots, these images are mainly a fly on the wall perspective. I love the shot of James consoling Astrid while Jenny is on the phone towards the end. With my appreciation for hand made items I loved that Astrid was wrapped in a beautiful blanket made by her grandmother and the adorable little zebra that made it into the shoot too.
